Star Princess Is Latest Princess Cruises Ship

Princess Cruises have just announced the name of their latest passenger ship.  And  it will be called Star Princess!

She is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard Italy.  She is schedule to start her cruises in August 2025.

She will join her sister ship Sun Princess. Both ships belonging to their new class. Called ‘Sphere Class’.

The name was released at a glitzy media event.  Held at Ocean Village, Southampton at Figurati restaurant.

Key members of the Princess Cruises company attended along with a whole host of press and media.

The event was hosted by Anna Richardson.  A popular television presenter, writer and journalist.

President of Princess Cruises John Padgett announced the new name in front of a packed venue.  Just before they had been entertained by acrobats from Cirque Eloize that are used on the passenger line.

Other senior team members taking part in the presentation were Eithne Williamson, Vice President Princess UK and Europe Commercial Team.  She was joined  by Richard Parker Director of new Build Guest Experience and New Product Development.

Following the name the being announced the guests were treated to sample a brand new cocktail the ‘Starry Sunrise’.

A Bright Conjuction With Star And Sun For Princess

The new ships will be 20% larger than any in the current fleet. Star Princess joins Sun Princess as the largest ships ever built for Princess. Weighing in at 175,500 tonnes and carrying 4,300 guests.

Firstly when Star Princess joins the fleet it’s first cruises will be a nine day cruise. Calling in around Italy and Greece. Rome (Civitavecchia) will be the start and end point. Featuring the destinations of Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples (for Capri and Pompeii).

The ships boast expanded accommodation options. Along with luxurious staterooms and suites, including the new Reserve and Signature Collections.

Star Princess will also showcase the exclusive Princess Medallion service.  This,  it is hoped will extend Princess’ leadership position in delivering exceptional personalised experiences.

The new ship will be the second in the Princess fleet to be powered by (LNG) Liquid Natural Gas fuel technology. Sustainable innovations are to be a major part of their plans.
