5 Star Suites Stay In Cyprus

5 Star Suites Stay In Cyprus

Finnbarr Webster reporting for www.thetraveltrunk.net

Having not visited Cyprus for well over 20 years I was curious to discover how much I would actually remember. Well, proof of my maleness was confirmed with exactly zero memories awoken!

This, however, was not necessarily a bad thing and essentially let me see the country as if for the first time.

For me, this was now my first visit and I can tell you now, it will not be my last, not by a long shot.
I’ve always felt that the most important part of any trip is finding somewhere to base yourself that meets all of your requirements.

These were completely surpassed with the outstanding Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites Hotel in Paphos.

5 Star Suites In Paphos

The Constantinou Bros are a well known family run hotel business, specialising in the adult market with four major properties on the island.
Asimina Suites Hotel is a luxurious 5 star adult-only beachfront hotel featuring 139 suites, and is considered one of the best in Cyprus.

There are also three bars to relax in where you can enjoy a wide range of wines, champagnes, beers, cocktails, and spirits. With a spa, interconnected pools and gardens leading down to the beach it really is a wonderful, idyllic retreat.

Landmarks Like ‘Aphrodite’s Rock’

With such a splendid hotel as my base, it was a push to go out and explore but explore I did, dragging myself away from the many luxuries, I first went to one of the most often visited and most famous of national landmarks, ‘Aphrodite’s Rock’.

Aphrodite’s Rock

Reading up prior to going I learnt that in Greek mythology it is the birthplace of Aphrodite, although like much mythology the details would make your eyes water, so, suffice to say she was born from the foam.
Another myth or local tradition is that swimming around the rock three times will bless you with beauty, eternal youth and true love but much as I’d like all that I was told the sea here can be deceptive and rough so it is not recommended, hence I will have to forgo eternal youth!

It has a pebble beach with steep rocky surroundings but it is an easy walk under the road from a nearby parking area which has all the usual tourist amenities.

Visiting is best early in the morning or later in the evening, not only because it will be quieter but also the light at these times would enhance the experience and the many photographs that will be taken.
Although my trip was brief, there was still time for a flying visit to the district capital city of Paphos, which is made up of two distinct areas, Kato (The Lower Town/Coastal Area) and Paphos Old Town (Ktima).

The Pafos (Paphos) Mosaics, House of Dyonisos mosaics roman villa at Nea Paphos Archaeological site.

After taking in the taking in the Byzantine fort in the harbour, I proceeded to visit two of the most popular cultural tourist attractions in Cyprus, the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Roman mosaics in the House of Dionysos and the Tombs of the Kings.

Both of these sites paint a rich and fascinating history of the island. The visit to the House of Dionysos was brilliantly entertaining with the guide telling truly engrossing stories from Greek mythology with each mosaic during the tour.

Agios Kendeas Greek Orthodox Church, Old Town in Paphos, Cyprus.

The Tombs of the Kings was equally enthralling with much time spent wondering around the different tombs, some of which are carved into the rock and some which are underground, although interestingly the tombs were a burial place for high-ranking officials and aristocrats rather than actual kings.

My stay at the Asimina Suites Hotel was so good that it certainly won’t be another 20 years until my next visit to Cyprus and my search will begin with one of the four Constantinou Bros Hotels in Paphos.

The other three of the group includes the neighbouring Athena Beach Hotel, the Athena Royal Beach Hotel and the Pioneer Beach Hotel.

Staying at the Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites Hotel is priced from £1,319 per person, based on two people sharing a Junior Suite with a land view on a bed and breakfast basis.

Upgrades are available to half-board from £1,439pp, to full-board from £1,529pp and to all-inclusive from £1,639pp.

Online bookings are possible through Jet2Holidays.
