SINGAPORE AIRLINES PREMIUM ECONOMY CLASS

SINGAPORE AIRLINES PREMIUM ECONOMY CLASS

Thetraveltrunk was invited to take a close up look at their new Singapore Airlines Premium Economy class seating that is being introduced into its fleet.

The A380 plane had just arrived into London Heathrow after a 12 hours 50 minute flight from Changi International airport in Singapore.

The new class is on the lower deck of the plane situated just behind the 1st class suites section and just in front of the economy section.

The cabin with 36 seats offers a mid range price option and enhanced comfort between London and Singapore and other of their long haul routes.

Planes are currently being retrofitted with the new seating so that both their A380’s and Boeing 777’s will have a premium economy  section option for their passengers.

The cabin is set out in the two four two configuration and has a open and spacious feel with touches of orange with the grey squarish seating. Calf and foot extension supports help to improve comfort along with the normal tilt back seat giving the chance to enjoy a more relaxing journey which on some routes can be a round 13 hours.

Passengers in this new section have the option to pre-order food from a new menu selection or just keep with the normal economy options. Pre-ordering of food must be done 24 hours before flying.

The cabin will I am sure be popular and with return flights costing currently just around £1,500 for its lead in fares it does provide certain passenger groups with an option that was never there before.

Having an extra choice for such long haul flights has proved to be very popular for cross Atlantic travel and I think that Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Class will prove to be just as popular for passengers traveling both East and West over the Indian Ocean too.

Starting on August 29th 2015 the new economy class will be available and as more and more planes are retrofitted then more routes will be able to offer this new class.
