Weymouth Is In A League Of Its Own For Fishing
Sports stars and TV comedians headed to Weymouth for some cooking lessons afloat from a former Michelin starred chef.
The South coast fishing port played host to a Sky TV film crew to make an edition of a show called A League of Their Own.
Team captains of the show, former England cricketer, Freddie Flintoff and former Premiership footballer Jamie Redknapp went to sea with comedians Alan Carr and Tom Davis.
Fans waved at the departing fishermen as they left the pretty port for a 3 hour fishing trip.
Chef Marco Pierre White was on hand to show the boys the way to cook their catch.

Dodging around the stars, the film crew were recording their every move as the various challenges of the day were issued. Which is all part of the programme’s format.
Comedian Alan Carr Was Born In Weymouth
Alan Carr has a particular tie to the town as he was born in Portwey Hospital in Weymouth.

His father Graham Carr was once the manager of Weymouth Football Club in 1977.

Meanwhile Jamie Redknapp’s father, Harry Redknapp lives not too far away in Sandbanks in what is called millionaires row.

On returning to port it looked rather like perhaps Freddie was possibly suffering a little with seasickness.

As he did look a little subdued and was very quick to exit the boat and head to a nearby café.

Coming into port Jamie, Tom and Alan all exchanged laughs at the bow of the boat whilst Freddie sat quietly to one side.

Without Covid running riot the town is normally a haven for sea angling. Dozens of charter boats operate from the port offering deep sea wreck fishing and even shark trips are possible too.
Hosted at one time by James Corden, the Sky TV programme has been running since 2010.
