Normally with a city population of some 24 million it would be impossible to see the railings for instance as the crowds flock to the seafront of this city, which is a larger population than that of New York.

As China’s biggest city it is hard to imagine that its population has just disappeared but that is the current look. With most hunkered down in their houses and apartments as the extended Chinese New Year holiday was  prolonged in order to protect the health of its people as the virus spreads around the country. Now with some returners to work even so many are still staying clear of places like shopping malls and to gain access you must be checked and monitored for a possible high temperature with  thermal body testing at all the entrances.
