Now Cunard Cancels Cruises Until March 2021
Cunard cruises have shut down until March 2021.
The luxury cruise line owned by Carnival Cruise Corporation and based at Southampton in Hampshire will have had no cruises for a whole year by then.
A total shutdown for 12 months is a hammer blow for the Cunard line and those that want to cruise again.
Queen Victoria not going anywhere until 2021.
Up until a few days ago the 3 Queens as they are called were anchored together off the Dorset coast.
Today they have literally scattered to the winds with the arrival of storm ‘Francis’ the three ships have run for cover or for the safety of the English Channel.
Being at moored in Weymouth Bay could be risky if one of the ships was to drag its anchor. Then start colliding with the others if they were in close proximity to each other .
Safer being at sea with the Queen Mary 2 currently in the middle of the English Channel. Queen Elizabeth is under way but part sheltered but off Torquay. With the Queen Victoria is at her home port of Southampton.

These stars of the Carnival Cruise fleet are under the luxury Cunard brand and will no longer be making transatlantic trips unto possibly next year.
Cunard Cancels Cruises Until Next Year
This pause in the operations means that the ships could be operating as from the following dates:
Queen Elizabeth until the 25th March 2021
Queen Mary 2 until the 18th April 2021
Queen Victoria until the 16th May 2021
The ongoing travel restrictions around the world plus the FCO advising against all cruise travel. Cunard have made the call to cancel.

Rumours that ships could be offered for sale has been scotched by Carnival Cruises Corporation.
A Carnival spokesman quoted in Travel Weekly said, “There is no truth to this rumour. Cunard and Seabourn are iconic brands for our company, and both lines have a strong track record of success over the years.”
Cunard Queens hit the news again as it cancels cruises until 2021.
Some four older Holland America Line ships have been sold by the group.
That sale included two to the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. And P&O Cruises ‘Oceana’ has since left the P& O fleet.
The Corporation have also said that they are speeding up disposal of some ships.

If the Cunard ships do return to shelter again in Weymouth Bay then at least the ships will have provided some income. And, in this case for this another much smaller cruise operator.
