Newquay and Heathrow will be linked once again by air using a new flight provided British Airways.
As from July 24th Cornwall’s direct air-link to London will be re-established to the international hub airport of Heathrow.

Initially British Airways will begin operating three flights a week in July, with plans increasing to five a week in August. Then from September the service will be daily.
The service operates under a PSO or Public Service Obligation. Which provides financial support, if required, to help ensure the route is maintained year-round.

Options for alternative transports links to London are driving at around 5 hours. With the train link also being around the same time too.
As well as the outgoing London flights, the convenience of getting to the far west holiday areas will be improved at the same time.

Geoff Brown, Cornwall Council said: “I welcome the arrival of British Airways in Cornwall to operate our key route between Newquay and London. This service not only protects Cornwall’s links with London, but will also offer excellent connectivity around the world.
“I am pleased that British Airways has recognised the importance of a phased return of the London service.”

The plan is for British Airways to operate the PSO route for 7 months. In the mean time, a tender process will be organised by the Department of Transport to work out for a four-year contract. With a target for it to start at the start of March 2021.

Not only is the BA service starting soon. Already, Ryanair have run flights to Alicante and Faro. New customer at the airport Eastern Airways are running flights to Teesside International Airport and also Leeds-Bradford.
Starting on 1st August Aer Lingus will be operating flights to Dublin.
