London Newquay Airlink Set For Take Off In July

The vital airlink between London and Newquay in Cornwall will continue as the national airline, British Airways keeps calm and carries on with it.

Starting flying an Airbus A319 on July 2nd this year the summer schedule will run until 7th September giving major connections to the world network and for the county to benefit from many international visitors to sample West Countries hospitality first hand.

“Safeguarding our link to the UK’s leading gateway has been our top priority following the recent change to our current Heathrow operation under a Public Service Obligation (PSO) agreement,” explains Amy Smith, Marketing and Business Performance Manager, Cornwall Airport Newquay.

The airport is located next to the popular coastal town of Newquay with 7 beaches and harbour plus it has excellent access to the North Cornwall coast.

Here popular holiday destinations like Port Isaac and close by Padstow the up-market village of Rock across the estuary with plenty of eateries there to attract visitors too.

Padstow made more famous by TV chef Rick Stein and Port Isaac has been featured for many years now as the fictional harbour village of Port Wenn in the TV medical drama, Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes, his wife Philippa Braithwaite is the producer of the ITV series. Several other celebrity chefs also run restaurants  in the county and include Nathan Outlaw and Mitch Tonks.

Newquay is a changing tourist town and is on the world surfing map as probably the top destination in the UK. Although British Airways makes no special offers for surfers wanting to bring their boards their normal sporting goods and musical instruments checked baggage rules will apply.

The summer flights will certainly provide the county with great outward connections to world markets and countries plus bring in visitors direct from London Heathrow in just over an hour where a five/six hour drive or train journey are the other options to reach the holiday county.

 

Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) has welcomed more than 456,678 passengers during  2019.

Return fares start from £90 in Euro Traveller and £250 in Club Europe.

British Airways flights will operate five days a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday  from 2nd July until 7th September 2020.
