Best Breakfast In England Awarded To Dorset House

Best Breakfast In England Awarded To Dorset House

Where can you get the best breakfast in England according to a recent AA survey?

Head for Dorset and the Dorset House boutique bed and breakfast in Lyme Regis.

Sourdough kimchi and halloumi a more modern choice.

Lyn and Jason Martin who own and run the business are so pleased that the hard work has paid off.

Plus, with the quality of their locally supplied ingredients being recognised by the survey too.

The first they knew that Dorset House had been assessed was at a guest’s check out. Then the person carrying out the mystery check announced at departure that they had done an undercover inspection for the AA.

And now we have just found out we were the best breakfast in England!

This family run business has been operating for 7 years since Lyn and Jason moved to Lyme Regis after Lyn quit her job in marketing in the midlands and in Jason’s case insurance in the City of London.

Running the 5 bedroomed property and bringing up 3 children has been busy.  But the whole family agrees that moving to the coast was the best thing to happen for all of them.

Ticked Many Boxes To Get This Award

Speaking with an experienced AA inspector contact of mine.  They told me that they must have ticked an awful lot of boxes to come out on top.

Chard from nearby growers.

They would have had outstanding ingredients to start with.  Then, they must have been able to demonstrate  their local provenance  too.

The freshness and sheer quality of the local breakfast items like sausages, bacon, fruit, vegetables, cream, milk and juices have to be of the highest standard.

Flour comes from the Town Mill in Lyme Regis.

In order to win they would have also had to provide a great result on the plate.

Something that Lyn obviously had achieved in order for an inspector to highly rate it on that visit.

Dorset House is located a short walk from the town centre and the famous Cobb harbour.

Individual Menus For Food Allergies

Individual menus are printed for each guest.  And so it’s possible to take into account their guest’s food allergies and construct a balanced menu that will suit each of  their visitors.

Dorset House Boutique in style.

On a personal note.  I have to say I am a cooked breakfast sort of a person.  If not a full English or ‘Dorset’ as they call it.  I went for just the three key elements.

The ‘Full Dorset’ breakfast I went for a pared down version.

Opting for a protein content start of the day.  Without doubt all were the tastiest of items I have had in a very long time. Lush juicy firm and meaty sausages, tasty bacon grilled to perfection and golden yolked eggs to complete the table triumvirate.

All balanced with fresh fruit salad and juices washed down with tea from a local company as well.

It all made for an award winning breakfast from me too!
