Where to Go Post Covid-19? A survey of the British reveal their staycation travel desires.
Researchers have polled the nation to discover where the British most want to visit after Covid-19 has passed.
With crisis behind them a walking holiday in the Lake District (31percent) has emerged as the number one in the study carried out by the train company LNER.

I personally would certainly head for places like the Kirkstone Pass, Surprise View and the towns of Keswick and Windemere too.
In a fairly close second place a traditional cream tea in Cornwall (28 percent). But where in the county would I go?

For me I love West Cornwall. The Lizard and the harbours and coves of that western end are so lovely. As well as that cream tea some fish and chips always goes down well on the coast.

For more fresh air and spectacular views then the Scottish Highlands (22 percent) came third.

My choice f would have me me heading to the less popular eastern side of the country with the Spey Valley and whisky country of Morayshire.

And for me the wonderful Alladale Wilderness Reserve north of Inverness an amazing find for me last year. Wild walking there in its extensive glen.
You may even want to blow the cobwebs from your hair with a rib boat ride on Loch Ness?

According to the poll by LNER (London North Eastern Railway), as many as 38 percent of the nation have been encouraged by the news of a possible COVID vaccine with a possible result that 48 percent of people are chomping at the bit to visit friends and family dotted around the UK and see the sights too.
Meanwhile, a romantic 14 percent insisted they were well overdue a romantic night away with their other half.
Almost a quarter (24 percent) said as soon as and when a vaccine is widely available, they will be hot-footing it on holiday, with only 11 per cent saying they would consider booking a trip abroad once vaccinated, preferring to stay closer to home.

When asked where UK travellers are at their happiest, 22 percent loved nothing better than a blustery walk on the beach on the Devon coast.

Either the North or the South coast there I would suggest in the south Burgh Island. Which is an art deco delight and would fit in very perfectly with the romance as well.

While in the north Lynmouth known as little Switzerland and Exmoor itself provide stunning walks. Either along its cliffs or river valleys. Like at Tarr Steps with its ancient river crossing.

Where a more cosmopolitan choice was was noted by one in five (20 percent). Whom for them would prefer to attend a glittering West End show in the big smoke.

Eating an ice-cream on Brighton’s famous beach (16 percent) came out well. For me shopping in the Lanes in the ever growing amounts of quirky shops that are to be found there would satisfy the retail bug.

When you have finished your ice cream then a trip up to the top of the i360 tower on the seafront is a must.

Perhaps going shopping in the historic city of Bath (13 per cent) was rated highly as well. For me you would need to try to follow that with a visit to the Regency Pump Room. This is where the great and good of those Jane Austin times were to be found.

Away from the city and the shopping. However, not that well known then there is the American Museum if you are looking for an alternative cultural offering. A short ride south from the city where this excellent museum is housed at Claverton Manor.

Back in the north then visiting York’s famous Minster (12 percent) also made the list. Plus the desire to drink a pint of bitter in a Yorkshire pub.

Perhaps, something that is something that could be done on the route to Castle Howard which is fairly near to York.

The stunning stately pile that was featured in the TV series Bridshead Revisited is worth the trip to the moors on any post Covid-19 trip.

Fossil hunting in and around the West Dorset town of Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast is also featured in the top 20 list of happy places. Here once lived giant creatures like Pliosaurs and still people are finding fossils uncovered by wave action along this stretch of coast.
Other sights Brits are eager to visit included the Northumberland coast with 11 percent of the vote and eating fresh seafood in the fashionable fishing port of Padstow in North Cornwall.

The town made so famous by TV chef Rick Stein boasts many fine eateries a number owned by Rick himself. The town is often busy but its harbour and narrow streets are idea for a winter or spring walk when they are then quieter.
Buying a souvenir from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile (9 per cent), seeing the deer in Richmond Park (8 per cent).

Harrogate, Cambridge and Lincolnshire also featured in the top 20 list of places to visit. Cambridge a university town has a number of river walks and being in the Fens is flat and really ideal for perhaps older or visitors with mobility issues.

I rather like the town of Ely nearby. With its stunning cathedral and it too has quaint streets, some riverside walks and a number of antique shops and warehouses. It is also the birth place of Oliver Cromwell.
