Covid-19 Egypt Were Cleaning Up 4,400 Years Ago
With the current spread of Covid-19 around the world, cleanliness has been one of the keys in trying to beat the infection and it was that desire for purification and protection just the same back in Egypt nearly 4,400 years ago.

As the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is about to celebrate World Heritage Day they have found a different way to bring those ancient skills to the notice of the public now in 2020.

Forming part of the precautionary measures taken by the Egyptian state and the world to prevent the new Coronavirus, the Ministry has chosen the Sakkara Archaeology Zone to be a symbol to celebrate World Heritage Day this year.
Over 4,400 years ago the Egyptians were cleaning and purifying.

This tomb is one of the most important discoveries made by the Ministry in recent years, not only because of the vivid colours but the story it carries to the current day, but also because it reminds us of the ancient Egyptian interest in preventing diseases.
Back in that 5th Dynasty they were using all the available disinfection and sterilization tools that they could have to hand, such as water, oils, honey and perfumes with known cleansing features.

In light of the precautionary measures that the world is taking to combat the coronavirus. Egypt are taking advantage of the celebration of World Heritage Day, to remind everyone that we all need to learn from our elders, regarding prevention and commitment to cleansing and personal hygiene at this time.

The tomb is considered one of the most important discoveries in this decade, because the owner of this tomb was the ‘high priest of purification’ from the Fifth Dynasty.
