My trolley bag weighed in at 11Kg so my very expensive professional cameras and lenses could have been heading for the hold, but as any pro photographer would tell you they would rather put their partner in the hold first! Joking aside we checked in with just one suitcase weighing 20.5 Kg but we were a little heavy on cabin bags so in many ways we could of had another 19.5 kilos to play with? Common-sense you would think could prevail a little, but the rather stern check-in operative was having none of it!
With the suitcase reopened and other none camera items being plunged into the case and then some swift swopping of items around in the hand bags we got through the grilling and wanton weighing which in fact and much even more worrying was that none of this check-in commotion was accompanied by the normal security questions. Bearing in mind we were flying around 9/11 date to the Middle East on a 5 hour plus flight it seemed that Thomson were far more concerned about the weight of hand baggage rather than who had packed them!
This is probably the most balmy of rules ever thought up by a bunch of supposed airline professionals who should really know better!
With the Dreamliner coming on stream one has to wonder what damn stupid rules will Thomson Airways come up with to ruin the travelling experience on that too?
