Its called the Gorgeous Kitchen for two reasons by my reckoning!
Both the food and the creators of the restaurant menu are not only attractive to look at but it has a very tasty menu too! Oh hell! Am I allowed to say such things in the PC world we live in?
But it’s true!
The four top women chefs behind Heathrow’s excellent bistro at Terminal 2 are I think not only gorgeous to the eye but their culinary creations served to me looked and tasted gorgeous too!
Their experience and expertise in catering was apparent. As the food selected by the small group I was with had much to be admired in the tastes, textures and overall presentation. They are all pictured here in this feature.
Bearing in mind this is a restaurant that has limited time to serve its customers whom are often hurrying to catch flights. Keeping one eye on the clock and one on the meal is a fine balance for both passenger and chef. Something that staff are very much well aware of.
An idea some two years ago to bring such an outlet to Terminal 2 was brought about when Sophie Michell and her colleagues Gee Charman, Jo Pratt and Caroline Mi Li Artiss teamed up and the Gorgeous Kitchen was born.
Quality food to get you in the mood for a holiday or business trip of a type that suits the flying experience you are about to embark on.
The aim is to serve meals promptly and properly ranging from an English breakfast, slow cooked lamb or a fresh fruit patter with mint and passion fruit.
With great views over the aircraft aprons of terminal 2 the light and bright modern chic décor is easy on the eye with prices that were at a moderate level. Having created dishes in the past for the likes of Prince William, Claudia Schiffer and Leonardo de Caprio you get an indication that it will be pretty special.
To get what is really top notch London style cuisine at an airport restaurant on the rush is a hard thing to balance in that environment and the Gorgeous Kitchen did that really well I thought.
It may not suit every flyer but I felt they offer good high quality excellently prepared and presented food in a restaurant that felt relaxing just the ideal sort of start one needs before a flight.
