Away from the main resorts of West Cornwall there are some real dining gems to be found.
In this case it’s the Rosewarne Manor rather off the beaten track for most tourists however the locals know when they are on to a good thing and home in on great food opportunities, rather like the seagulls do at the coast.
To be found at Connor Downs near Hayle this eatery is building a great reputation for its food and service to its customers so visitors to the area would be well advised to check it out.
Recently listed in the Trenchermans Guide a well known regional food publication in the South West of the UK that includes Michelin star restaurants so the manor is in some great company.
Picking up awards and building its customer base over the last five years the Rosewarne Manor is a favourite venue for weddings in West Cornwall and winning awards in that area too.
Although it has limited accommodation what it does have did get 4 AA gold stars when they created it from a run down building in the extensive grounds.

Awarded 2 AA Rosettes for excellence in fine dining, Taste of the West – Gold Award for excellence on food and use of local produce, which is a key element in what the owners Cyril and Gill Eustice with Chef Phil Thomas are striving for as they continue to grow their Cornish focussed business.
In its ample grounds the granite manor house is very much a family affair with son Colin working there too.
After this my second trip to the manor and on both occasions the food has been excellent with an efficient team serving up the convential fare and some unexpected treats too!
Vegetarians are well looked after, my partner eyed up the Puy and red lentils, baby bok choi, marinated beans, pinenut with citrus dressing where I loved the idea of local pork fillet, bittersweet chocolate, baby bok choi, orange, vanilla as a very different combination.
From Sunday carvery lunches to large wedding functions and intimate fine dining evenings all the team at Rosewarne Manor are certainly putting it on the map even if its a bit hard to find at first.
But it is well worth it when you get there, sat nav is TR27 5JQ if that helps, personally I don’t use it but a little mystery adds to the culinary adventure I think?
