Getting the right name for your business is really important even more so when its an airline called Aurigny.
This one UK airline has been wrestling with this but at the moment Aurigny although they have accrued some fairly large debts could perhaps look for a name to aid their airline marketing and point of departure.
And you are probably saying where the hell is Aurigny?
Well this is a Norman name for the island of Alderney but it still does not explain where this particular airline is in fact based!
Unless you have traveled on their planes then you will have very little idea of their location or routes.
AURIGNY MYSTERY CONTINUES
I have used the airline once and so I recognize the name and their puffin logo which, could apply pretty well to several places around the UK including Lundy in the Bristol Channel. Although landing there in an Embraer 195 would be a very tricky exercise to say the least.
To rebrand the fleet would be pretty costly a figure of around £750,000 has been suggested recently and maybe even more to for the ground handling and support vehicles .
This row has been going on for nearly 3 years at least but it would seem to me that the planes are in effect free flying advertisement billboards and it would help to spread the name and the investment of some three quarters of a million may be the best investment the airline could make in the long term.
The airline was launched in 1968 and later bought by the countries administration in 2003 in a bid to secure and keep air links to London open.
I quite like the quirky name as it is but brand awareness rules. However, letting the wider public know where you are from is another and I feel it would be a really positive move to undertake and would at last locate them on a map and also in peoples minds.
The fact that they fly to locations all over Europe as well as the UK it would surely without doubt put them on the map.
Oh you want to know where on the map?
Have you guessed yet?
